- International students: Eligible for an RTP International Tuition Fee Offset Scholarship (RIFOS) or an RMIT Research International Tuition Fee Scholarship (RRITFS), which covers tuition fees.
- National students: An RTP Fee Offset scholarship will cover the full tuition fees for the duration of the application.

Eligibility requirements
The RMIT University 2025 Research Stipend Scholarship is awarded based on a competitive selection process which takes into account academic merit, research potential and relevant experience. Priority is given to candidates meeting the following criteria:
- Academic excellence: Applicants must demonstrate exceptional academic achievement, typically evidenced by a high distinction (80% or above) in their most recent studies or equivalent qualifications.
- Commitment to research: Applicants must be able to devote at least 12 months of full-time study (or equivalent) to the scholarship. Those who have already completed a higher level research degree are not eligible.
- Registration at RMIT: Applicants must be enrolled or planning to enroll at an Australian campus of RMIT and meet the university’s English proficiency standards.
- Compliance with exchange rules: Applicants must not have previously held a Commonwealth or RMIT funded research fellowship, unless it was terminated prematurely. Additionally, they must not receive another scholarship exceeding 75% of the value of this scholarship.
Specific eligibility criteria
- Part-time study: Part-time fellowships are available to domestic applicants in exceptional circumstances, as outlined in the Fellowship Terms and Conditions. Note that part-time scholarships are not tax-exempt.
